Preparing your valuation

What photos should I send for a valuation?

Clear pictures help us understand what you are selling, its condition and how collection might work. You can enquire before taking any photos, then send them by email when ready.

Start with the whole asset

Take current photographs in daylight: front, rear and both sides, plus a wider view of where it is standing. Keep the whole vehicle or machine in the frame where possible. Avoid filters and include known damage rather than trying to hide it.

Caravan photos

Show the exterior panels, windows, hitch and wheels from accessible positions. Inside, include the seating, kitchen, washroom and sleeping area. Photograph visible staining, soft areas or damaged fittings, with one wider picture to show where the issue is and one close-up for detail. Photos cannot establish the full extent of damp.

For a static caravan, include the route out of its current position and any narrow entrances. Read more about selling a damp or damaged caravan or selling a static caravan.

Motorhome and campervan photos

Alongside the exterior, show the cab, dashboard mileage, living layout, beds and washroom. Include visible leaks, damage or missing equipment. Describe mechanical and habitation faults in writing even if they cannot be seen in a photograph. For conversions, show the installed layout and tell us what equipment is included.

See our motorhome buying page for the other details that help an assessment.

Van photos

Include the cab, seats, load area, doors and any racking or equipment included in the sale. Show dents, rust and warning lights already visible on the dashboard. Add the mileage, MOT status and known faults to your email; pictures alone will not explain an engine or gearbox problem.

Digger and plant machinery photos

Show the machine from each side, the cab or operator station, hour meter, tracks or tyres, and attachments included. Take close-ups of visible wear, damage or leaks from a safe position. Include a view of the standing area and loading access, and say whether the machine starts and moves.

Our used plant buying page explains the information needed for individual machines and small packages.

Send your pictures with a short description

Email . Include your name, make and model, approximate year, condition and postcode. If you have already submitted the form, use the same name and asset details. If attachments are too large, send a few pictures at a time.

There is no need to send bank details or identity documents with an initial photo enquiry. Only take pictures from places you can safely access; there is no need to climb onto roofs, crawl underneath an asset or operate faulty equipment for a photograph.

Are photographs enough for a firm offer?

Photographs support an initial assessment but do not replace inspection or ownership checks. Further information may be needed before an offer is confirmed. Read how our valuations work for the factors we consider.
